This year the boys are on the same little league team. We decided to skip the whole t-ball deal with Jackson so that we wouldn't have so many different games and practices to go to. It has worked out wonderfully! The boys like being on the same team and Austin is busy teaching Jackson everything he would have learned in t-ball. Jackson is doing great!

Nicole has been involved in the school band for a year and a half learning to play the flute.

She has done a wonderful job with this new instrument.

Nicole was so excited this year when she tried out and made the

Jr. High dance team.

She loves performing at half-time during middle school games and,

because she has an in with the high school basketball coach,

she loves it even

more when she gets to perform at the high school games!

Basketball Season

Mark is coaching Austin's 3rd grade team. However, Austin is in 2nd grade and much smaller that his teammates. I was nervous these games would not be so fun to watch.

I've learned otherwise!

This may be the funniest thing I have seen in a long time!

Austin has a habit, like the big boys, of wiping the bottom of his shoes.

Chrismas 2008

This was the first Christmas our family has spent entirely alone.

(Nice, but lets not get into that habit.)

The girls helped out quite well with the activities in the kitchen.

Mark made his favoirte fruit salad.

Our Christmas program was chalk full of "good stuff".

Nicole played "Little Drummer Boy".

Jessica read her favorite scripture.

And, the boys sang "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".

I told the story of the Christmas Orange and Mark read Luke 2.

Each year after our program is over, the kids share the gifts they have bought for each other. (On the Saturday before Christmas, the family will gather all the loose change from around the house. We count it up and split it between the four children. This year they collected $80.00+. They draw names and shop for that brother or sister.) It's a wonderful and fun tradition!

Then it's time for bed!

The Hunt for the Perfect Tree

We took the kids to a local "cut your own tree" farm. It's a fun tradition watching the kids run around searching for what they think is the perfect tree. This year we were in a bit of a hurry because Mark had a basketball game to get to and the sun was setting. The kids were great and Jessica found our tree. The best part of the outing is yelling out "SAW" as loud as you can!

Summer Fun

I want you all to know that we were very busy this summer.

I am going to blame that as the reason I haven't kept up on the blogging.

Anyway, here are a few of the activities the Lee Family was doing all summer!

Dad took us to a Padres game. Lots of fun.

After a week at the beach in San Diego, we spent some time at Lake Elsinore with

Aunt Donna, Uncle Mike, Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Lisa, and our cousins.

Mark took all four kids to Camp Winthers this year.

It's a one week camp up in the Sierra Mountains.

Mark has a basketball camp there and he has taken the

opportunity to give his own kids some pointers.

The kids tell me all about the fabulous rock climbing.

However, this looks more like rock jumping than rock climbing!

I definitely would not allow this!

We went to the Indy races!

We played on the boat!
I can finally wakeboard without falling down hard!

I swear, Liv and Maren had a great time and loved it!

Our new friend Peter - from the Netherlands, who we met at our camp site,

tagged along all weekend.

And we took a trip to Utah for Karlee's baptism.

Pumpkin Patch

We had a fun time with the kids at the local pumpkin patch.

For $7 the kids were able to go thru the corn maze, take a hay ride, run thru a haunted house and go down big slides.

What more could you ask for...a pumpkin. Well, no.

We let them choose a pumpkin and then told them we would go to Wal-Mart to get cheeper pumpkins.

Money's tight now a days...haven't they watched the news!

We had tons of fun on the 3rd of July. It was a beautiful ride down the river.

Last night Jackson had a very scary dream. So scary that he had to sleep with Mark and me. Tonight he was nervous about going to bed and mentioned his dream again. I told him to ask Heavenly Father to help him sleep well and to have good dreams in his prayer. We went to his room and he started his prayer. He got to the dream part and said, "Heavenly Father, please give me......Tom and Jerry dreams tonight." Who doesn't love Tom and Jerry! Hopefully, it will work!

First Camping Trip of the Year!

We took the kids up to Rollins Lake and camped with our friends this weekend.

It was chilly, but that didn't stop anyone from having fun!

This is my friend Jessica. They own the RV. Have to say camping is a lot easier with an RV.

We ended up in the ER the first day of vacation. Jackson fell back and hit his head on the fireplace hearth. 2 hours and 2 staples later, we were back to vacationing thanks to the wonderful ER staff in good old Truckee!

Our family took a few days this past week to spend some time together in Lake Tahoe. We had a wonderful time in the snow. The weather was great...warm considering all the snow that was still on the ground.

The view off the back deck was beautiful.

There was a park on the lake just down the street that the kids enjoyed.

I went to my very first concert last night. I saw Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood with a few of my girlfriends. I felt like a teenager again. I laughed, sang and had tons of fun! I think I have a new crush on Keith. Enjoy the photos Lisa! Wish you could have been there!

Placer High School’s Earle Crabbe Gym has not been kind to the Colfax Falcons this season. Entering Wednesday night’s match up against the Placer Hillmen (11-15, 4-7), the Falcons (22-1, 9-0) had suffered only one defeat this season which came back on December 27th against the Del Oro Golden Eagles in a game that was played at Earle Crabbe Gym as part of the Kendall Arnett basketball tournament. The Hillmen on the other hand have struggled this season, particularly of late losing six of their last seven games that included a 63-42 loss at Colfax three weeks ago.Fans for both schools packed the gym last night, but Placer’s home crowd, like the team, had upset on their mind. The band, the green and yellow painted faces and painted bodies, and the loud chants coming in unison from Placer’s vocal student body in support of their team gave the game a playoff atmosphere.Despite Colfax tying the game a few times in the second half, Placer held a slim lead for almost the entire game, but down the stretch it was Placer guard JP Mehlhaff who came up big for the Hillmen. First Mehlhaff hit a shot clock-beating three-pointer to put the Hillmen up 57-53 with 28 seconds on the clock. Then with 3.5 seconds left in the game, Mehlhaff was cool as ice knocking down a pair of free throws to put the Hillmen up 59-56. With just seconds left in the game, Colfax threw the ball inbounds to Scott Krizman who raced the length of the court in time to put up a three-pointer before the buzzer sounded. The shot bounced off the iron narrowly missing a chance for Colfax to send the game into overtime giving Placer the stunning 59-56 victory. The Hillmen seemed to feed off the energy from the home crowd by playing well early and not getting into a hole that they couldn’t climb out of. Placer jumped out to an early 8-5 lead when senior guard Eric Edwards hit a three-pointer with 3:44 left in the opening quarter. Following back-to-back three pointers by Edwards in the second quarter, the Hillmen grabbed their biggest lead of the game at 29-16. But after the Edwards three, Colfax began to slowly chip away at the Hillmen lead sparked by the red-hot three-point shooting of senior guard Joel Iventosch who hit a pair of threes in the second, and a pair of threes in the third. The Falcons were finally able to tie the game at 37-37 with 3:16 left in the third when senior forward David Kleppe connected on 1 for 2 from the line. A competitive, hard fought battle by both teams on both ends of the court, kept the game close and the emotions high. Both teams battled hard for every rebound and every loose ball giving all indication that the game wouldn’t be decided until the final minutes. The game would see the score tied at 41-41, 45-45, and 53-53, but Colfax could never quite get over the hump thanks to Mehlhaff’s late game heroics. Mehlhaff scored seven of Placer’s final eight points of the game, including the all important three pointer and two free throws that gave Placer the late game victory.Placer received double figure scoring efforts for the game from seniors Edwards (17 points), Mehlhaff (12 points), and Charlie Harrison (10 points). 6’6” junior center Jeff Patton came off the bench putting in a superior night on the defensive end in addition to his eight points on offense. Patton also led the Hillmen on the boards with nine. Matt Ross and Ryan Miller chipped in with five points each.The game’s leading scorer was Iventosch who seemed to hit everything he put up. Iventosch who poured in 25 points on the night was terrific from behind the arc with his five three-pointers. Placer did a nice job on Krizman, Colfax’s scoring leader for the season with 21 points per game. On this night, Krizman scored just 15 points and only five in the second half.The loss by Colfax marks their first league loss in three season after going 12-0 in 2006, 12-0 in 2007, and now 9-1 in 2008. Placer can finish the season off with a three game winning if they can beat Lincoln at home next Tuesday night. Colfax is headed to the playoffs once again, but it will not be known yet if Placer’s recent wins over Mesa Verde and Colfax will be enough to catapult them into a top 16 spot in the Division III playoff race. Back on February 4th, Placer’s 2-7 league record had them ranked #23 in the CIF rankings.

SNOW TIME!

The kids were out of school Monday, so we went up the hill to the snow and had a blast! Watching them makes me laugh!

Jackson decided he didn't need anything but his tummy to go down the hill!

The sun was so bright coming off the snow. It was a beautiful, warm day. After a while, everyone had taken off their hats and coats. NICE.

Christmas Programs 2007

Santa was at Jacksons preschool performance. Did you ask yourself "Where are the girls?" I did. Have they gotten too old to sit on his lap? Maybe!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a nice, relaxing day. After waiting all day for Aunt Lisa and Mom to get up here, we got to eat. Thanks a lot guys! JK

Soon after Thanksgiving we started decorating for Christmas - our favorite time of year!

We decided for adventure this Christmas so we went to cut down the family Christmas tree. The kids had lots of fun searching the hills for the perfect tree. The best part was hearing the kids yell "SAW". It was a fun day!

Last week Austin had the wonderful opportunity of having a 72 hour EEG. What fun this was!! He did a great job considering that one of the electrodes on his forehead had been burrowing into his skin. I felt bad when I saw the open wound that turned into a huge scab and goose egg. For three days I had told him to "get tough" and not cry about how his head hurt. I won't be winning any mother of the year awards soon. I thought his doctor was crazy when he said that Austin could go to school. Does he not see what Austin looks like. Apparently when his doctor was in first grade no one ever made fun of him. Silly doctor! We see the neurologist on the 27 of November for results.

Sacramento Temple

The weekend after Disneyland Greg, Tara, Kim and Lisa came back to town and we all went to the Sacramento Temple together. It was an exciting weekend! To top it off, Greg finally got to bless Layne and Doug blessed Rhett at Mom's house. I love my family -- my own as well as my extended. They are the best!!

Happiest Place on Earth

The kids and I took a trip down to Disneyland in mid October. What made the trip so special was that Uncle Greg finally returned to the states from Iraq. And is there a better way to celebrate than a trip to the happiest place on earth.

Lisa, Greg, and I liked the Nemo ride as much as the kids did!!

Nicole and Jessica loved their time getting pampered just like princesses. (The design each of them picked tells the story of their different personalities. Nicole picked simple whereas Jessica picked bright and sparkely. I thought that was funny.)

Here is the newest addition to our family. Nicole and Jessica talked me into getting a hamster. Leah is her name. Okay, I have to admit that I like the hamster. What will it be next! So far so good with the little rodent. We have only had one mishap so far. Nicole accidentally stepped on her and thought she had killed her. The two girls came running down the stairs screaming as though someone had lost an arm. I asked what happened and Jessica said, "Nicole stepped on the hamster and she cracked!". All I could think of was that now we had a paraplegic for a pet and I was going to have to somehow make an apparatus that Leah could pull herself around on...something like a cart with wheels. Well, to make a long story short, the hamster was just in shock and after about 10 minutes she was back to herself. I never knew having a rodent for a pet would give me something to talk about.

First Day of School

August was an exciting month for us. All four kids went to school! Wow, now what will I do. Nicole started fifth grade. Jessica started third, Austin began a full day in first, and Jackson goes to Preschool three days a week from 8-12:45.

Christmas 2006

Last Christmas the whole family came into town. It was lots of fun having all my brothers and sisters here. Talk about too many gifts. My mom and dad's Christmas tree was packed full of gifts. Greg, Doug and Lisa stayed with Mom and Dad while Kim and her 5 children stayed at my house. We had a gingerbread decorating contest for the adults. Of course, Mark and I won! Each of the 11 grandchildren decorated a box car which ended up making a very long train. The sugar intake on that night was crazy!! Grandma had it all under control. The guys played and played ping-pong. I want to say that even my Dad got involved in one game...then of course he went back to the couch for some R&R. We took family photos in Folsom. That was an experience. The Dent family just keeps getting bigger and bigger. (Kim has 5 kids, I have 4, Greg has 3, Doug has 2 and Lisa is in holding pattern till Mr. Right shows up.)

Summer Vacation 2007

As soon as summer started to get going we had lot of fun days on our boat. I can't tell you how much joy I get watching my kids have a ball on our boat. My cheeks still hurt from laughing and smiling watching them. We spent most of our summer days on the lake. I am still frustrated over the fact that Mark can wake board (on his very first try) and I can't seem to figure it out. I'll get it sooner or later. Our favorite place to go is Lake Clemintine. Just a 15 minute drive from our driveway to the boat ramp. It's close and has a beach the kids love to play on. It's also nice that I can pack the car, the ice chest, and the kids then get the boat in the water and Mark joins us at the lake after work. We've also spent a few nights there camping. Lots-a-fun!

We also spent just over a week in So. Cal. We spent most of the week on Pacific Beach in San Diego. Mark and the kids had a great time riding the waves, skim boarding, and searching for dead jellyfish. I sat under the EZ-Up trying to get rid of a bad case of pneumonia, darn it. Mark was great though, he'd carry the ez-up to the beach every morning so that when we all got up we could have a nice spot on the beach. Uncle Mike, Aunt Donna, Lee and Ricky also came to visit and spend some time with us. Austin loved all the quality time with his cousins playing wiffle ball and smash ball. One of the best parts of San Diego was that our hotel room was just about on the beach itself. We could run up to the room to go potty or jump in the pool to wash off the salty sea water at any time.

After our week on the beach, we met Uncle Jimmy and crew at Lake Elsinore. It was HOT!!! The kids had a blast on Jimmy's boat. (That's Jackson jumping off the boat.) It was great to see everyone and the bar-b-q at Jessica's house was a great way to cool off after a day on the lake. Thanks Jessica. The house is beautiful!

Mark sustained an arm injury on vacation trying to wake board. He doesn't even know his own strength. He tore the tendon that holds his bicep down. He ended up having surgery to fix his arm. It included surgical rope, two holes through a bone and screws. OUCH! He's tough though. He didn't really complain about it. Well not too much. He has started physical therapy and should be good as new in three months.

My Dad

The summer of 2007 started off terribly sad. My dad lost his 8 month battle with liver cancer June 9. He was a wonderful father and friend. We are all still trying to get used to the idea that he isn't here. Time, I'm hoping, will ease the pain but we will never forget his loving ways. I miss him.
